Posted: June 26, 2008: Account Executive, Food Safety Services

We are seeking an Account Executive for our Food Safety services division to develop sales of food safety, and associated risk management services to new accounts in the food industry within the following markets: retail, brand manufacturing/processing, importing and hospitality (hotel, restaurant, and cruise line).

Principal Responsibilities:
1. Achieve assigned sales budget.
2. Create, communicate and execute account sales plans for assigned (new) accounts.
3. Develop sustainable relationships between SGS and assigned accounts.
4. Manage and coordinate relationships with all stakeholders at each key account to ensure successful close of sales objectives.
5. Negotiate sales agreements to meet or exceed sales and gross margin objectives of the Food Safety services division.
6. Drive, develop and manage all account-focused activities for assigned accounts.
7. Find and close opportunities for cross selling (food to non-food, and across service lines) at assigned accounts and manage the implementation across SGS’s international network.
8. Maintain current database of all assigned customers for timely, clear and concise understanding by SGS management.
9. Support and participate in SGS’s presence at industry tradeshows and conferences when appropriate.
10. Communicate effectively with the client services group, managers and others with ongoing customer relationships to manage resolution of customer issues related to service execution, service quality, and account receivables.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field.
• A minimum of four-five (4-5) years of successful sales experience in food safety, laboratory, chemical or microbiological, quality assurance, or other food related industry.
• Demonstrated skills in key account planning and sales at all levels and across all functions of a customer’s organization.
• Established relationships in retail grocery, importer, private label manufacturing in the meat, fish, bakery, produce, dairy, agriculture, hospitality or other food related industry.
• SGS’s service offerings include product sampling, inspection, testing and process auditing, and will require the candidate to demonstrate a strong technical aptitude.
• Excellent written, oral, and presentations skills in the English language.
• Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
• Ability and willingness to travel.
• Knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices.
• Ability to work remotely with little supervision and/or from the Fairfield, NJ laboratory/office location.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bi-lingual – Spanish or Mandarin
• Six (6) years of sales and/or marketing experience in the food industry.
• Quality assurance, R&D or comparable experience in the food industry.

Posted: March 7, 2008: Corporate Sanitarian and Food Safety Specialist
 
Kings Super Markets, Inc., a unique specialty food market based in northern New Jersey, is seeking a Corporate Sanitarian and Food Safety Specialist with a minimum of five years experience and progressively increasing responsibilities. Primary responsibilities include:
 
1.      Assure compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to sanitation.
2.      Assess store food handling and sanitation practices through periodic audits.
3.      Train associates in food handling certification.
4.      Represent company in matters involving health and food safety regulations.
5.      Direct outside testing laboratories in the analyses of food products.
6.      Evaluate equipment, supplies and services for compliance with sanitation and food safety.
 
Requirements
Minimum of a BS Degree in the sciences or related fields such as public health; five years within the retail food sector; thorough knowledge of the US and NJ Department of Health, Food and Drug Administration, US Department of Agriculture, and various laws and regulations concerning food safety; must be licensed sanitation inspector. Must be able to work independently and enforce standards; excellent problem solving ability and communication skills required This position requires travel primarily in New Jersey throughout the counties of Bergen, Morris, Essex, Hudson, Union and Somerset.
 
The successful candidate must also have experience and knowledge of food safety guidelines in the manufacturing sector, excellent customer skills, extensive experience with product recalls, as well as good standing in the professional community.
